Ex. The recto is the right-hand page of a book, usually bearing an odd page number, or the side of a printed sheet intended to be read first.

Ex. When the heaps of all the sheets of a book had been dried and piled together again, they were set out in signature order on a long table, with the first recto pages upwards and to the near side.
